Web Portals

A Portal (or Web Portal) is a web site that is used regularly by a group with a common interest. The site typically offers a broad array of resources and services that may include e-mail, chat forums, search engines, online storefronts, and shared electronic documents or content. The Portal attracts and maintains users, virtually creating an online community.

Portals today are created for a number of reasons. Corporations may develop a portal to attract and provide a service to their customers or to let their employees and trading-partners access critical business information and services. Private organizations may develop a portal to provide members a place to congregate virtually. Elected officials and public sector groups may intend to provide constituents with access to information and an opportunity to voice comments or concerns.

Working closely with an organization, Prequel is able to design content that is easy for the user community to access and tools that enable daily contributions to the site.

In summary, a portal can:

  • Enable corporations to provide services to their customers, employees, and trading partners
  • Give private organizations the ability to provide members with a virtual meeting place with a variety of services; and
  • Facilitate public sector individuals' and organizations' desire to share information and exchange comments with constituent users
